12 killed, 27 injured as bus falls into gorge in Maharashtra’s Raigad; President Murmu shares condolences

In India’s southwestern command of Maharashtra, 12 other folk had been killed and 27 others had been injured when a bus they had been travelling in fell into a gorge. Police officers acknowledged the accident took arrangement on the ragged Mumbai-Pune toll road within the Raigad district of Maharashtra early on Saturday. Among the many passengers became as soon as a traditional song troupe called ‘Baji Prabhu Vaadak Neighborhood’ travelling from Pune to Mumbai.

Taking to Twitter, President of India Droupadi Murmu shared her condolences for the families of the victims.

“The shortcoming of lives in a bus accident in Raigad, Maharashtra is deeply distressing. My condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the swiftly restoration of the injured,” wrote the president.

As per a PTI file quoting a senior police authentic, the accident came about spherical 4:50 am local time (8:20 pm GMT).

“The bus became as soon as carrying members of ‘Baji Prabhu Vaadak Neighborhood’ from Mumbai’s Goregaon. They had been returning to Goregaon after taking segment in an tournament in Pimpri Chinchwad arrangement within the Pune district. The bus had left the venue spherical 1 am on Saturday,” he acknowledged.

Raigad Superintendent of Police (SP) Somnath Gharge revealed that the bus’ passengers are from Sion and Goregaon in Mumbai and Virar within the neighbouring Palghar district.

One other police officer, additional SP Atul Zende, acknowledged that the deceased and the injured belonged to the age community of 18 to 25.

The injured were admitted to the Khopoli Rural Successfully being facility, located spherical 70 kilometres from India’s monetary capital Mumbai.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde visited the victims of the Raigad bus accident.

A search and rescue operation consisting of local police and a trekker’s community is for the time being underway.
