A joint operation by the Narcotics Acquire watch over Bureau (NCB) and the Indian Navy has led to the seizure of 200 kilogrammes of Afghanistani heroin worth USD 1.45 million or Rs 1,200 crore from an Iranian vessel.

Talking to the press, NCB’s Deputy Director General (operations) Sanjay Kumar Singh acknowledged that the agencies comprise also arrested six Iranian nationals and that the boat and the seized treatment had been dropped at Mattancherry wharf. 

“The NCB has now seized the vessel and 200 kg of heroin. The six Iranian crew individuals comprise also been arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, 1985,” he acknowledged.

As per PTI, Singh reported that the investigation is aloof on and that the heroin was in 200 packets with markings and packing outlandish to Afghanistan and Pakistan-essentially based drug cartels.

Some drug packets reportedly carried ‘Scorpion’ seal markings, while others had ‘dragon’ markings. The treatment had been packed in seven-layer water-resistant packing.

“Preliminary investigation printed that the seized drug was sourced from Afghanistan and was transported to Pakistan. This consignment was then loaded into the now-seized vessel off the Pakistan soar in a mid-sea alternate,” NCB acknowledged in its assertion.

The vessel build of dwelling cruise to Indian waters for extra supply to a Sri Lankan vessel. While efforts are being made to title and intercept the Sri Lankan vessel, it is yet to be traced.

As per the NCB trafficking of Afghan heroin into India thru the Arabian Sea and Indian ocean has elevated throughout the final years.

“The southern route for trafficking of heroin from Afghanistan i.e., from Afghanistan to Makran soar of Iran and Pakistan after which onwards to a form of countries within the Indian Ocean Diagram, including India, has won prominence over the outdated couple of years.”
