AIR FORCE TO GET INDIGENOUS ‘SMART ANTI-AIRFIELD WEAPON’ WITH 100 KM RANGE FOR STANDOFF PRECISION STRIKE

At its gathering prior today, the Defense Acquisition Council, headed by the Defense Minister, freed the acquirement from the indigenously created ‘Shrewd Anti-Airfield Weapon’ or SAAW for the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force.

Created by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), SAAW has a scope of around 100 km and weighs around 125 kg.

The weapon, which is being obtained at an estimated cost Rs 970 crore, will give the Air Force and the Navy the ability to hit adversary landing strips and runways from a deadlock separation with high accuracy during clashes.

Given that this weapon can be dispatched from deadlock runs, the airplane dispatching it can stay at a protected good ways from the foe target. Much of the time, the weapon can be shot by IAF warriors from inside the Indian air space.

Aside from SAAW, the DAC likewise freed the acquisition from Static HF Trans-collector sets for field units of the Indian Army and the Air Force at a rough expense of Rs 540 crore to empower consistent correspondence.
