Amazon launches ad-supported video streaming service ‘miniTV’ in India

The eCommerce giant Amazon is launching an ad-supported video streaming service, miniTV specifically for its Indian audience base. 

Other than Amazon prime, miniTv is a first-of-its-kind move globally that will be available within the Amazon shopping application of Android phone users.

Hence, with the new launch, it will have two video streaming offerings namely- miniTV and Prime Video. 

The company stated- Prime Video will continue working ad-free with Prime Subscription, miniTV is a free service and it will need any separate application. 

The firm said that the new miniTV will be extended to iOS and another mobile web over the coming weeks or months. It will have professionally created and well-curated content involving web series, comedy shows, tech news, food, beauty, fashion, and more. 

There is no confirmation whether miniTV will telecast prime video content such as movies, series, and more. 

For the launch and content curation Amazon has partnered with TVF, Pocket Aces, and comedians namely- Ashish Chinchlani, Amit Bhadana, Harsh Beniwal, Shruti Arjun, Elvish Yadav, Round2Hell, Prajakta Koli, Swagger Sharma, Nishant Tomar, and Aakash Gupta. 

Not only this, it claims to add more new content and exclusive videos in the coming weeks. Earlier in January 2021, Amazon partnered with Bharti Airtel to launch Prime Video Edition (PVME) plans to start from Rs 89 per month. 

Lastly, talking about its rival Flipkart, it had launched syndicated content from Voot, Arre, Viu, Pocket Aces, and more in 2019. To boost traffic it launched original game shows and quizzes over its platform. When it comes to driving more and more audiences via entertainment basis the giants don’t stop and always find new ways to engage people.
