Arizona police K-9 tracks down man accused of sexually assaulting girl on light rail: ‘That you can’t veil’

An Arizona man who sexually assaulted a girl on a gradual-weight rail platform early Saturday was once arrested after a police K-9 tracked his scent and came upon him hiding below a field, authorities said. 

The assault took instruct in Mesa around 4 a.m. on the Light Rail platform of Alma Faculty/ Predominant, the Mesa Police Division said. Mesa is a metropolis positioned about 18 miles east of Phoenix.

An grownup girl standing on the platform was once struck from within the back of by a suspect, later identified as 39-yr-outdated Leon Jones, and fell to the ground, police said. Jones allegedly hit the victim within the head and choked her till she lost consciousness.

Leon Jones, 39, was once booked on felony prices of kidnapping, sexual abuse and aggravated assault. He was once being held on $25,000 bond.

When the girl wakened, Jones was once on top of her and persisted to punch her upper physique and face, in line with authorities. 

Jones allegedly suggested the girl that she wouldn’t be ready to name police before he ripped off her clothing from the waist up and sexually assaulted her.

Police said Jones was once positioned  within 20 minutes of launching a search.

Listening to the girl’s screams, a security guard for a nearby local enterprise rushed to back. Jones fled the scene once the guard arrived, police said.

After gaining detailed records in regards to the suspect from the victim and the guard, police said responding officers swarmed the dwelling and blueprint up a fringe while K-9 Hasso picked up Jones’ scent.

K-9 Hasso positioned Jones lawful 20 minutes into the search, finding the suspect hiding below a field within the back of some bushes, authorities said in a records launch titled “You Can’t Veil From Our K9.”

Jones refused to conform with the officers’ orders, in line with police, and was once shot with one much less lethal bean gain round to the buttocks before being taken into custody.
