On Monday, the Indian Navy seized narcotics worth Rs 3,000 crores from a fishing vessel. The vessel was suspected to be of foreign origin or came from out of the Indian boundary. The report was presented by a defense spokesman.
The spokesperson added that the Indian Naval Ship “Suvarna” was on surveillance patrol in the Arabian Sea. It spotted the fishing vessel moving around suspiciously.
Then the authorities felt like investigating further into the matter, the ship’s team conducted a boarding and search operation, which led to the seizure of more than 300 kg of narcotics.
The fishing vessel with its crew has been escorted to the nearest port at Kochi, for further investigation stated by the spokesman. It has been estimated that the approximate value of the seized substances in the international market is around 3,000 crore.
However, did not disclose the exact location from where the seizure was affected, or the day.
The authorities also added- this is a major catch, not only in terms of the quantity and cost but also from the perspective of destruction of the illegal narcotics smuggling routes, which emanate from the Makran coast and flow towards the Indian, Maldivian, and Sri Lankan destinations.
Not only this, the human costs of addiction, the spoils of the narcotics trade feed syndicates. It also includes terrorism, radicalization, and other criminal activities.
