Canada: Turban-wearing Sikh woman to be the original city councillor of Brampton

For the first time, a turban-wearing Sikh woman has been elected as the city councillor of Brampton city in Canada. 

Navjit Kaur Brar, a respiratory therapist, received the fling on Monday in Wards 2 and 6.

She was a weak Conservative MP for Brampton West. She secured over 28 per cent of votes forged, Brampton Guardian reported.

Her opponents Chambers got 22.59 per cent and Camren Wilson got 15.41 per cent of the total votes forged. 

As section of her advertising campaign within the middle of the last two months, she went door to door and spoke to over 22,000 residents.

She stated, “I’m excited. I’m so proud of all Bramptonians who safe voted, making obvious our voices are heard more than ever sooner than.”

Brar had earlier misplaced as the Ontario NDP candidate to Progressive Conservative MPP Amarjot Sandhu. 

In her speech, Brar stated, “I safe quite a bit of other folks can bid in confidence to me. I’m shapely a respiratory therapist. I’ve essentially worked with quite a bit of other folks. I’m a mom of three and quite a bit of other folks in Brampton are households.”

She’ll mainly point of curiosity on three aspects — building original infrastructure, lowering crime within the situation and bettering avenue security.
