Clubhouse Android app to launch in India on May 21

Bengaluru- Clubhouse an invite-only social audio social application will launch its Android application and other markets on May 21. The launch will come after it launched a beta version in the US.

Clubhouse, a startup backed by Andreessen Horowitz said on Twitter that it will launch the android application in Brazil, Japan, Russia on Tuesday and on Friday in India, and Nigeria and the rest of the world by Friday afternoon. 

In addition, it launched the Android app in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The company is still thinking and taking slow steps, and said it will stick to its waitlist and invite system on Android for now and open it further in the coming weeks. 

Moreover, the company claims  it gew much quicker than expected, partly owing to the covid pandemic. Due to which the load stressed their systems. It caused widespread server outages, and failures. 

The blog post says- “It made us shift our focus to hiring, fixing, and company building, rather than the community meetups and product features that we normally like to focus on.”

The launch will be a crucial step for user-boost. It clocked onl 922,000 downloads globally in April, a 66% dip from 2.7 million installs in March 2021, and 9.6 million in February. 

The early reports says, in recent months the company raised back to back funding from investors Andresson Horowitz, DST Global and Tiger Global among others and is currently valued at $4 billion.
