Councils demand developer levy exemption

The Native Govt Association wishes the remediation of social housing to be handled within the same contrivance, and on the same terms, as private housing.

The day previous to this Michael Gove, the ‘levelling up’ secretary, revealed that 35 house-builders had agreed to commit now not decrease than £2bn between them to repair buildings over 11-metres high that they’d place up within the past 30 years. Cllr David Renard, housing spokesperson on the Native Govt Association, acknowledged: “We’re overjoyed that the authorities has listened to calls the LGA has been making for loads of years to guard leaseholders from the prices of two a few years of exchange failure.

“However, we name on the authorities to invent the same security to council tenants and council taxpayers as it has afforded homeowners, by exempting councils from the developer levy and funding the remediation of social housing on the same foundation as private housing.”
