America’s 120 federal prisons are on lockdown after two inmates who had been reportedly MS-13 gang members had been killed on Monday in an altercation at a facility in Beaumont, Texas.
The fight broke out rapidly sooner than noon. Four inmates had been transported to a native health facility where inmates Guillermo Riojas and Andrew Pineda had been pronounced deceased.

Every Riojas and Pineda had been members of the MS-13 aspect road gang, per the Associated Press.
“In an abundance of warning, the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is securing our facilities as a momentary measure to manufacture clear the beautiful repeat of our institutions,” Emery Nelson, a spokesperson for BOP, told Fox News Digital. “The BOP will proceed to observe events fastidiously and can alter its operations accordingly because the realm evolves.”

No employees members had been injured for the length of the fight.

Pineda, 34, used to be sentenced to 78 months in jail for racketeering and conspiracy. He used to be attributable to be released in 2024, per BOP recordsdata.
Riojas, 54, used to be sentenced to 38 years in jail for carjacking and interfering with interstate commerce.

The DOJ IG slammed the lax security features at Beaumont in that advise, writing that “the outer doorways of separate structures within… Beaumont had been unsecured in that they had been unlocked, had been unmanned, had been no longer geared up with surveillance cameras, and had either nonfunctioning alarms or alarms that can very effectively be manipulated by inmates, even for the length of times when inmates had been no longer accredited to switch freely.”

BOP Director Michael Carvajal instructed Attorney Total Merrick Garland earlier this month that he plans to resign.
