Former TERI chief RK Pachauri passed away

Former TERI chief RK Pachauri, 79, passed away on 13 February due to a prolonged battle against heart illness.  RK Pachauri: RK Pachauri played a pivotal role in growing the New Delhi-based The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and making it a premier global organization in the sustainability space. He was the founder-director and former chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He became chief executive of TERI in 1981 and headed TERI for more than three decades.  IPCC got the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with former US vice-president A1 Gore under the leadership of Pachauri. The prize recognized IPCC’s efforts to build and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change. He headed the body from 2002 to 2015. Pachauri resigned from Teri in 2015.
