Bengaluru– ISRO (The Indian Space Research Organisation) is ready to make a second attempt to give India one of a kind satellite for earth observation. The GISAT-1 (Geo Imaging Satellite) is most probably will be launched by the end of March or the first week of April.
Earlier, the launch was scheduled for March 5’ 2020, and to immaculate minutes before the 26-hour countdown which began on March 4’ 2021. And it was delayed due to some technical issues just before the blast-off.
The Times Of India stated that on March 7’ 2021, K Sivan ISRO Chairman told- “The date has not been decided yet, but we are targeting a launch by the end of this month or in the first week of April”.
The location from where GISAT-1 is condemned to be lifted into space by GSLV-F10 Rocket from Sriharikota Spaceport in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district, about 100 km north of Chennai.
Later on Sunday, Bengaluru HQ ISRO told PTI- “We are looking to launch this satellite on March 28 subject to weather conditions”
Last year reports say that the GSLV-F10 Rocket will place the spacecraft in a geosynchronous orbit and will be subsequently positioned in geostationary orbit, around 36,000 km above the earth’s equator with the help of its onboard propulsion system.
The satellite weighs around 2,268 kg, which will also offer spectral signatures for forestry, agriculture, disaster warning, cloud properties, glaciers, oceanography, and snow. This satellite would support the nation with quick monitoring of natural calamities or disasters, episodic and even short-term events. It will also help in keeping an eye over Indian borders to prevent any mishappening and to get prepared beforehand. It also holds the potential of aiding the country’s armed forces to plan better and well-proven plans.
