LONDON — Google has chosen not to press ahead with plans to rent an office in Ireland with enough space for 2,000 staff.

The news was first announced by Bloomberg and affirmed to CNBC by Google.

Situated in Dublin’s Docklands territory, where a large number of individuals worked for U.S. tech monsters before the Covid pandemic struck, the seven-story office involves 202,000 square feet of business space.

The structure was recently utilized as an arranging office by Ireland’s state-claimed postal assistance, A Post. It was created by Marlet Property Group before it was offered to Singaporean land speculation trust Mapletree Investments for 240 million euros ($282 million) in June 2019.

A Google representative stated: “After much consultation, Google has chosen not to continue with renting the Sorting Office right now.”

Google declined to state why it has pulled out of the arrangement however it said it is “focused on Ireland” and that it will “keep on contributing” in its Irish activities.
