Google says 20% of workers will be remote, many more hybrid

Google stated that it is expecting about 20% of its workforce to still work remotely after its offices reopen this fall, while some 60% will work a hybrid schedule that involves about 3 days in the office and 2 days- “wherever they work best”. 

Moreover, the remaining 20% of the workforce can change their location as per their convenience to a different Google office. 

On Wednesday, the company declared to relax the company’s stricter earlier stance and policies. 

The chief executive officer of Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in an email to the employees that were also posted on Google’s website and it says- “the future of work is flexibility and the changes above are a starting point to help us do our very best work and have fun doing it”. 

Already from September 2020 most of the Google employees that are around 135,000 are continuing to work remotely. 

And additional changes states that for up to 20 days per year Google employees will also be able to work some any location according to their choice other than their main office. That’s up from a previous allotment of 10 days. 

The company based in mountain view California will also continue offering extra reset days for days off to help cope with the pandemic.

Lastly, Google was the major technology company that was the first one to tell its employees to work from home at the onset of the covid-19 pandemic which was followed by other text joins such as Twitter, Facebook, and many more.
