India-UAE Relations: Enlarges India’s footprints in West Asia

NEW DELHI– The growing relationship between India and UAE is setting out a real example of acting together for the betterment of folks and nations. Over the last few years, the UAE deported more than 100 fugitives to India, it has also helped with real-time intelligence from Iraq and Syria in the past. Moreover, this March its air force will refuel the Rafale fighter jets flying in from France.

In 2020, in the early January before 2020 Republic Day parade will be held among the tensions outside and protests due to enforcement of the Citizenship Amendment Act. The security officials were concerned about the security systems for PM Modi and decided to use drones for better examination. They had the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO)’s anti-drone but needed something more accessible like a mobile system installed. And that’s where one nation came forward promptly to offer support with mobile anti-drone systems for PM’s security was the UAE (United Arab Emirates).

Later in 2021, India planned to fly at least four Rafale fighter jets from France to Ambala air base, and in this UAE came forward to support again. It has been stated that the UAE air force deploys its airbus 330 multi-role transport tankers (MRTT) later in March to provide mid-air refueling so the jets can fly non-stop to India seamlessly.

In addition, UAE will also continue the support and extend its facility for the next batch of jets, which are expected to flag off from France to India, by the Visiting Indian Air Chief RKS Bhadauria in April. India will soon activate the second base of Rafale, which is located in north Bengal’s Hasimara, by April. Hence, the deployment close to the tri-junction of Bhutan, Sikkim, and Tibet, will strengthen India’s air capability.

The major reason for choosing UAE over the French air force for mid-air refueling was taken due to India’s past experience. As earlier, it was found that the use of French refuellers ended up slowing down the speed of the jets. And turning to UAE for support, clearly reflects how the growing relationship is supporting and becoming strong and lending hands when in need.

Lastly, the UAE Air force has confirmed, will join the Varuna Naval exercise to be held around the Gulf of Oman as the 3rd partner most probably between April 25 and 27. With constant touch and support, UAE and India go through lots of hassles and make sure to help in whatever way possible. Having a better bond with international boundaries, nations, and someone like UAE- a well-developed economy will surely turn out to be a great beneficiary for India in the long run. There are multiple instances, namely, when UAE helped India to keep a watch on the Indian diaspora into the ultra-conservative Sunni movement and stopped them from joining. And there’s a lot more to see.
