Joshua Cheptegei sets 5km road world record in Monaco

Uganda’s world 10,000m champion Joshua Cheptegei created history by setting a 5km road world record in Monaco. He ran 12 minutes 51 seconds and smashed the previous record, set by Kenya’s Rhonex Kipruto by clocking 13:22. Jimmy Gressier of France finished second in Monaco with a European record. He clocked 13:18. Also, Britain’s Nick Goolab finished third in a new British record of 13:27. Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei: Ugandan long-distance runner Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei won silver in the 10000 m run at the 2017 World championship in London. In 2018, he also set a world record for the 15 km road race. In 2019, he became the World Cross Country champion.
