For the past few days, some of the tech and social giants are facing cyber-attacks via data breaches. The personal data of 1.3 million Clubhouse users has leaked online on a popular hacker forum, reported by Cyber News on Saturday.
The breached data involves user’s names, social media profile names, and other personal details.
When the media persons asked about the data breach, Clubhouse did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for the comment that was made yesterday.
Cyber News reported the exposed data could enable bad actors to target users via phishing schemes or in other words identity theft.
The Clubhouse application was launched in March 2020 Acha has grown exponentially and turned out to be the most popular and attracting millions of people all around the globe.
The audio community in the application allows users to tune into conversations or rooms about various topics and discussions. In recent months, the firm is in top talks for a funding round that values the company at $4 Billion.
Even the same publication reported on Tuesday that the personal data of 500 million LinkedIn users were scraped, and similarly happened with the Facebook data of 533 million users who were on the dark web for sale. Security Researcher told Business Insider that hackers could use the exposed data for the wrong actions or to impersonate them or scam them into revealing sensitive login information and data.
