PM participated in Kashi Ek Roop Anek held at Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the program named ‘Kashi Ek Roop Anek’ held at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He interacted with artisans and craftsmen and distributed kits and financial assistance to artisans and craftsman from different crafts. Aim: The event aimed to facilitate and strengthen the traditional handicrafts workers, artisans, and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) in achieving the goal of a $5 trillion economy. Highlights: Products from nearly 10,000 artisans from all over Uttar Pradesh were showcased at the Kashi Ek Roop Anek.  It witnessed the display of stalls of Handloom, Pink Meenakari, Wooden Toys, Chandauli Black Rice, Kannauj’s Perfume, Moradabad’s Metal Crafts, Agra Leather Shoes, Lucknow’s Chikankari, and Azamgarh Black Pottery under the One District One Product. Artists and weavers shared skills to improve the quality and branding of their wares suitable for the larger national and international markets.  The event was attended by brands and buyers from Europe, Australia, and US, among others.  Artisans in UP: There are 23 lakh artisans and weavers living in Uttar Pradesh. Out of the total, around 35,800 artisans and 1.5 lakh weavers reside in Varanasi alone. UP Institute of Design (UPID) supports more than 3500 artisans weavers from 30 districts. It also provided toolkits to over 1000 workers.
