Rear Admiral Puruvir Das took charge of the Gujarat, Daman and Diu Naval Area from Rear Admiral Sanjay Roye as Flag Officer Commanding Gujarat Naval Area (FOGNA) at a ceremony held at Headquarters Gujarat, Daman and Diu Naval Area on 10 February 2020. Rear Admiral Puruvir Das: Rear Admiral Puruvir Das has a career spanning of 30 years. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and has held numerous specialist, staff and operational appointments both afloat and ashore. Puruvir Das has commanded Indian Naval ship (INS) Kozhikode, INS Kora, INS Shivalik and the aircraft carrier Vikramaditya. Gujarat, Daman and Diu Naval Area: Gujarat, Daman and Diu Naval Area are given high priority by the Indian Navy due to its strategic location, vast coastline and economic importance for India. It is responsible to the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command for all Naval operations in Gujarat, Daman, and Diu Naval Area.
