BENGALURU- On Thursday Information technology’s apex body Nasscom appointed Rekha M. Menon as its chairperson and senior managing director at Accenture in India for 2021-22. With this, a new responsible position she becomes the first-ever woman to be taken as a Chairperson for Nasscom in its rich and exponential 30-year history.
Previously, the Vice-Chairperson and succeeded U.B. Pravin Rao, the chief operating officer at Infosys Limited, took on the role of Chairman of Nasscom for 2020-21.
On the other hand, Nasscom also declared the new position holder Krishnan Ramanujam as Head of Business and Technology Services, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) Limited as the Vice-Chairperson for the FY 2021-22.
Meanwhile, she said, “The ongoing covid-19 pandemic continues to test the resilience of our more than 4 million people, even as it has created new opportunities for growth with technology emerging as the lifeline for societies and economies across the world. As we cautiously navigate the pandemic, I look forward to working with the Nasscom executive council and its members to drive our industry’s long-term growth”.

While on the other hand, Nasscom stated- with evolving industry dynamics, the newly appointed and highly experienced leader Rekha Menon along with President Debjani Ghosh will spearhead the industry in its ongoing digital transformation. They will work towards making India a leading hub for digital talent, developing a favorable policy ecosystem, catalyzing innovation and creation for further growth in the long run.
Later on, Nasscom declared its new executive council which consists of industry sectors such as engineering and development (ER&D), global capability centers (GCC), small and medium businesses (SMEs), and startups. A well-analyzed bunch and expertise to expand further. This new council will play a strategic role in enabling India’s tech sector to take leadership on the global map via focused initiatives and well-analyzed moves. And the most interesting part is, around 40% of the council is comprised of women leaders.
