Sony is on the verge to make complete robot control television in a bid to slash costs. Head of Sony’s electronics businesses, Kimio Maki mentioned in the newspaper about he is trying to bring full automation of production lines at the company’s main TV factory in Malaysia to cut the costs by almost 70% by the fiscal year 2023 in comparison to 2018.
Maki even mentioned that he wants to enhance its use of robotic automation in smartphones and camera manufacturing although it might keep some human workers on the production lines.
He mentioned in the newspaper, “I don’t think automation alone using robots will bring enough merits. The key is to use digitalization to link both sales and manufacturing.”
By making use of artificial intelligence sales data will be studied for more effective calculation of manufacturing volumes.
