Apple Co-founder Steve Job’s handwritten job application letter which was filled in 1973 has brought for GBP 162,000 at an auction. On 24th March, this letter was put up to auction on the auction website Charterfeilds. Basically, this application is a single-page hand-written letter by Jobs. Notably, there was no mention of the role for which he has been applying nor the name of the company for which he was applying.
Well, this letter was one of his first job applications that were filed by Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Even he joined a company called Atari Inc as a Technician. This application was specifically was filed just a year before he got his job.
Charterfields is the site where the letter was auctioned by describing the letter as “A single page signed job application form 11973 which is being offered for sale by auction. However, in the questionnaire, Steve Jobs has highlighted his experience with calculators and computers also special abilities in “electronic tech or design engineer digital.”
Notably, the questionnaire is believed to have been accomplished at the time he has dropped out of Reed College in Portland, Oregon. One year after, he joined Atari as a technician where he has worked with Steve Wozniak before he founded Apple in 1976. This application was in very good condition with overall creasing, light staining, and old clear tape to the top edge. Further, it is accompanied by letters and certificates of authenticity. However, it was sold at auction in 2018 which was over $175,000.
Steve has now joined Atari after dropping out of Reed College which was described by his colleague at Atari as “difficult but valuable,” presenting “he was very often the smartest guy in the room, and he would let people know that.” This is the place where he had met Steve Wozniak who is the founder of Apple.
With Steve Wozniak, he founded Apple in the 1976 year after he left his job in Atari. In an interview Jobs mentioned they founded apple because they wanted their personal computer which they could not afford one.
Job quoted, “Not only couldn’t we afford the computers that were on the market, but those computers were also impractical for us to use. We needed a Volkswagen. The Volkswagen isn’t as fast or comfortable as other ways of traveling, but the VW owners can go where they want when they want and with whom they want. The VW owners have personal control of their car.”
