Table Mountain fire destroyed historical buildings in Cape Town

A wildfire on the slopes of South Africa’s Table Mountain has spread to the nearby University of Cape Town Campus by forcing the evacuation of the hundreds of students, as per the officials.

Soon, the blaze spread quickly after the breaking out on the Sunday morning which is near a memorial to politician Cecil Rhodes. This restaurant was destroyed. The university’s historic library and the other buildings were even affected. However, the four helicopters are water-bombing the flames. South African National Parks mentioned firefighters were alerted at 09:00 local time. However, the flames have spread quickly because of the lower humidity and dry bush.

The fire created its own wind by enhancing the rate of spread. It is estimated that the firefighter will be needed three days for controlling the blaze. It is said, “After the initial investigation, it is surmised that the origin of the fire is from a vacated vagrant fire.”
