The execution of decorated wrestler Mehdi Ali Hosseini is imminent by IRAN

The Iranian regime must be held to account for their vile human rights abuses and their attempt to cling to power through execution,” Ellie Cohanim, the State Department’s deputy special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism, told Fox News.

Iran reportedly are going to be executing yet one more champion wrestler shortly. consistent with a report in Jerusalem Post, the Iranian regime has found star wrestler Mehdi Ali Hosseini guilty of murder during a brawl in 2015. The news comes just months after Iran executed another champion wrestler Navid Afkari for his role in protesting the regime’s corruption.Afkari’s execution drew immense criticism globally and even a high-profile international campaign calling to spare his life didn’t help much. The news of Hosseini’s planned execution once more reflects Iran regime’s desperate need for stepping up repression. Despite these executions of political prisoners, the regime hasn’t succeeded in stemming the growing tide of popular unrest and people’s uprising within the Islamic country.

The execution of the decorated wrestler Mehdi Ali Hosseini is imminent. he’s from Andimeshk within the province of Khuzestan, and was arrested in 2015 and charged with pre-meditated murder, supposedly committed during a gaggle brawl. it’s unclear whether Iran’s regime forced Hosseini to confess to a criminal offense he didn’t commit.

“What the ecu Union must ask themselves is, at what point does one consider a state a nasty actor and take action accordingly,” said Cohanim, who fled the Islamic Republic of Iran together with her family in 1979, when she was 6, to flee its repressive state policies. “Is it when the state underwrites terrorism and causes instability in entire regions? Is it when the state starves its own people while enriching its leadership? Is it when the state commits mass human rights violations against its own citizens? The Iranian regime checks all boxes.”

Hosseini, 29, who comes from the town of Andimeshk within the province of Khuzestan, was arrested in 2015. consistent with Jerusalem Post, the wrestler has now been found guilty of murder during a gaggle brawl and altogether likelihood are going to be executed any day. However, there has been no official confirmation from Iran’s state media, which isn’t surprising given the regime’s authoritarian policies.

Hosseini’s relations reportedly told Persian-language website of Deutsche Welle, a German state-owned international broadcaster, that his execution is imminent and that they have resigned to their fate because the victim’s family has decided to not pardon the wrestler for the alleged murder.

Tehran has previous form for posturing that a defendant who has been condemned to death still features a right of appeal, only to enforce a peremptory sentence amid family shock and bewilderment. This makes Hosseini’s execution almost unavoidable.
