US President Donald Trump arrived in India

US President Donald Trump has arrived in India on a two-day state visit on 24 February. Mr. Trump arrived at Sardar Vallabhai Patel Airport in Ahmedabad on his maiden visit to India. He is also accompanied by US first lady Melania Trump, his daughter Ivanka, son-in-law Jared Kushner and a high-level delegation of his administration. Highlights: The leaders participated in 22 km long grand India Roadshow with artists performing along the route to Sabarmati Ashram. The US President visited Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram.  They participated in the Namaste Trump event at the newly-built cricket stadium in Motera stadium, Ahmedabad and addressed a gathering of over one lakh people at the Namaste Trump event.  The Trump couple visited the iconic Taj Mahal mausoleum at Agra. The US President will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. India and the US are expected to sign near five pacts in areas of intellectual property rights, homeland security, and trade facilitation. The leaders will discuss a wide variety of bilateral and regional issues including trade and investment, counter-terrorism, defence and security, energy security and situation in the Indo-Pacific.
