Ruby Gupta is the founder and CEO of Duosis Bio-Innovations Pvt Ltd which is into the production of SAAS products. She has completed her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow. She has received NIDHI-EIR Fellowship and is involved in the research and development of food ingredients from agro-industrial spin-offs. Along with her the contribution of another personality Mrs. Pummi Pradeep can’t be ignored. She is the director of the company Duosis Bio-Innovations Pvt Ltd. she has completed her MBA in HR and finance. She has worked as an Asst. Manager in Soil & Enviro Industries Pvt Ltd, Odisha. She takes care of the managerial works.
Duosis Bio-Innovations Pvt Ltd which is also known as DIPP is a women-led start-up. Here, they work on the production of food additives from agro-industrial spin-offs. By manufacturing the product “Jellnex”, they are trying to improve the socio-economic status of tribal communities of Jharkhand. DIPP is an Official Start-up for the Make in India initiative. Moreover, they are recognized as the Department of Information Technology & e-Governance, Govt. of Jharkhand.
DIPP’s flagship product Jellnex is an edible hydrocolloid. As it is very cost-effective and sustainable, it can do wonders with many food products and other eatables. At various pH conditions, it shows various acid, salt, and heat resistant properties. This product is the result of an agro-industrial by-product and hence it proves to be a Waste-to-Wealth product. When it is mixed with sugar, it exhibits excellent thickening and gelling. It prevents syneresis and is shape retentive. Additionally, it stabilizes ice crystals and provides resistance to freezing and thawing. This product forms a soft gel-like substance with polyphenols.
DIPP’s has created a social impact by generating livelihood for the population dependent on NTFP aggregation and creating women micro-entrepreneurs. They have customers from Top 10 most valuable companies (BSE). Some of the awards they have received so far are NIDHI-EIR Fellowship, BIRAC-Biotechnology Ignition Grant, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Innovation Lab (Start-up Jharkhand funding), and BIRAC-TiE WInER Award.
