Goldman Sachs pleads not guilty in Malaysia over 1MDB bond sales: state media

Three units of Goldman Sachs (GS.N) argued not blameworthy to charges of deceiving speculators with respect to $6.5 billion in bond deals that the U.S. speculation bank helped raise for state finance 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), Bernama state news organization gave an account of Monday.

The U.S. Division of Justice gauges $4.5 billion was misused from Malaysia’s 1MDB somewhere in the range of 2009 and 2014, including a portion of the assets that Goldman Sachs helped raise.

Malaysia has said it was looking for up to $7.5 billion in reparations from Goldman over its dealings with 1MDB, which was set up in 2009 by then head administrator Najib Razak.

Najib, who lost a general political decision in May 2018, is confronting 42 criminal allegations identified with misfortunes at 1MDB and other state substances. He has argued not blameworthy.
