Apple spending $1 billion for opening a 3,000-employee campus

On Monday, Apple has announced that it is planning to re-open a new campus in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. Now, Apple will be spending almost $1 billion on the campus. Further, this will employ around 3,000 people who are working on the technology that involves software engineering and machine learning.

Moreover, the sign of Apple’s continued expansion beyond its headquarters in Cupertino, California, where most of the engineering has historically been based. Moreover, Apple is also establishing a $1 billion campus in Austin, Texas which is expected to open to employees in the next year.

The expansion of Apple’s which will be located in North Carolina’s Research Triangle area will soon get its name because the nearby three universities are North Carolina State University, Duke University, and the University of North Carolina.

CEO of Apple Tim Cook and COO Jeff Williams as they both have MBAs from Duke. Senior vice president of Apple, Eddy Cue who is in charge of the company’s online services, graduated from Duke.

Williams said in a statement, “As a North Carolina native, I’m thrilled Apple is expanding and creating new long-term job opportunities in the community I grew up in.”

Currently, Apple has joined other Silicon Valley technology companies that are now expanding outside the Bay Area towards gaining access for gaining access to a wider pool of engineering talent. In some of the cases, it might respond to the higher housing prices and the other costs of living in the region.

Apple on Monday said, it is now continuously intensifying in some of the other cities and it has engineering operations. Now, it is planning to employ 5,000 people in San Diego California, 3,000 people in Culver City in Los Angeles, and almost 700 employees in Boulder, Colorado almost by 2026. Apple also mentioned it employs 1,000 people in Seattle, Washington, and planned for doubling to almost 2,000. In total, Apple mentioned that it planned to make the addition of 20,000 jobs in the U.S. over the next five years.

Currently, Apple will be now continuing to be based on the Silicon Valley which it has almost around 25,000 employees that involve 12,000 employees in its loop-shaped headquarter. Altogether, it involves retail workers. Well, Apple also has around 147,000 full-time employees as per the last year.
