In a rebuttal to PM Modi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee urged journalists, “PM Narendra Modi has delivered a fully one-sided and deceptive speech. The facts shared by him were execrable. We’ve been providing a subsidy of Re 1 on every litre of petrol and diesel for the last three years. We’ve spent Rs 1,500 crore on this.”

Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray were also not happy with the remarks made by PM Modi, saying that the Centre is giving the speak “step-motherly cure”.

In a press release, Thackeray said, “The Union executive owes Rs 26,500 crore to the Maharashtra executive. Maharashtra’s contribution to notify taxes collection at the nationwide level is 38.3 per cent and its fragment within the GST (collection) is 15 per cent, nonetheless the Centre presents us step-motherly cure.”

Telangana CM and TRS leader K Chandrashekar Rao also slammed the high minister over his demand to decrease gas prices in a lot of states. KCR said that the Telangana executive has not hiked their petrol and diesel prices since 2014.

“After Telangana speak used to be formed, we now possess by no system raised petrol and diesel prices. It has been raised by the BJP executive at the Centre. We’ve not raised taxes, why may per chance per chance also fair aloof we gash back it?” he said, as per PTI studies.

Urging the full states to gash back the VAT on petrol and diesel prices, PM Modi had said, “I beg all states to work as a team on this time of global disaster following the spirit of cooperative federalism.”
